How To Make Piri Piri Sauce

Switch up your usual spicy dip and enjoy an African-style one in this piri piri sauce recipe, made using African Bird's eyes peppers.

  • 1 lb red chilies, chopped, preferably African Bird’s Eye peppers
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp paprika, smoked, or any chili powders
  • ½ cup cilantro, chopped
  • ¼ cup basil, chopped
  • ½ cup olive oil, or vegetable oil
  • 1 lemon juice
  • salt, to taste


  1. Add all ingredients to a food processor or blender. Process to form a smooth sauce to preferred consistency.

  2. Enjoy! Refrigerate until ready to use.
