How To Make Basic Fried Croutons
These easy-to-make fried croutons, which give that crunchy and crispy accent in a bowl of soup, are easy to make in just under 30 minutes!

Ingredients
- 4firm white bread slices,or other savory bread, or brioche, or rye, or pumpernickel, or egg
- 1tbspunsalted butter
- 2tbspolive oil
- salt and freshly ground pepper,to taste, optional
Instructions

Stack the bread slices on a cutting board, then remove the crusts from each side. Cut the stack crosswise in each direction into ½-inch or 1-inch cubes.

Melt the butter and the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the bread cubes, then sauté for about 3 minutes, until golden and crisp on all sides.

Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then stir to coat.

Serve over soups or salads, and enjoy!
