How To Make Malai Kofta Recipe
Malai kofta is a creamy and rich Indian dish made with deep-fried potato and cheese balls in a creamy tomato-based gravy.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4-5 medium-sized boiled potatoes, mashed
- 1/2 cup grated paneer
- 1/4 cup dry fruits (raisins, cashew nuts, and almonds)
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 bay leaf
- 6-7 cloves
- 1-inch cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 3 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 cup cream
- 2 tbsp kasuri methi
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions

In a mixing bowl, add mashed potatoes, grated paneer, dry fruits, cornflour, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well and make small balls.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan and deep fry the balls until golden brown. Keep aside.

In a separate pan, heat butter and add bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick, and cumin seeds. Fry for a few seconds.

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Add chopped onions and fry until golden brown.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.

Remove the bay leaf, and blend the mixture into a smooth puree.

Strain the puree and heat it in a pan.

Add cream, kasuri methi, and salt. Simmer until the gravy thickens.

Add the fried koftas in the gravy and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
