How To Make Traditional Gyro Meat

Ingredients
- 1 ½ lbs ground lamb
- ½ lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, ground beef, grated onion, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried thyme, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly combined.

Shape the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it on a greased baking dish.

Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).

Bake the gyro meat in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).

Once cooked, remove the gyro meat from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Slice the gyro meat thinly and serve it in pita bread or flatbread, along with tzatziki sauce, sliced tomatoes, onions, and lettuce.
