How To Make Oyster Chowder Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of diced onion
  • 1/2 cup of diced celery
  • 1/2 cup of diced carrots
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 pint of fresh shucked oysters, drained

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, melt the butter on medium heat.

  2. Add the onions, celery, and carrots and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Stir in the thyme, salt, and black pepper.

  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a boil.

  5. Add the oysters and simmer for 2 minutes.

  6. Pour in the heavy cream and continue to cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the chowder has thickened.

  7. Ladle into bowls and serve hot.
