How To Make Microwave Biryani

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans)
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp biryani masala
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • Fresh coriander leaves, for garnishing


  1. Rinse the basmati rice in water and soak it for 30 minutes. Drain the water and keep the rice aside.

  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, add the sliced onion, chopped tomato, mixed vegetables, yogurt, biryani masala, ginger garlic paste, chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.

  3. Add the soaked rice to the bowl and mix it with the masala mixture.

  4. Pour water into the bowl and cover it with a microwave-safe lid or microwave-safe plastic wrap.

  5. Microwave on high power for 10 minutes. Then, reduce the power to medium and microwave for another 10 minutes.

  6. Let the biryani sit in the microwave for 5 minutes before removing it.

  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
