Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 loaf Italian bread
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, milk, and egg. Mix well.

  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs about 1-inch in diameter.

  4. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, or until cooked through.

  5. While the meatballs are cooking, slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise.

  6. In a small bowl, mix together melted butter and minced garlic. Brush the garlic butter mixture on the cut sides of the bread.

  7. Place the bread on a baking sheet, cut side up, and bake for 5 minutes, or until lightly toasted.

  8. Remove the bread from the oven and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the cut sides.

  9. Place the cooked meatballs on one half of the bread, and then fold the other half of the bread over them.

  10. Return the traybake to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  11. Slice and serve the Meatball & Garlic Bread Traybake hot.
