Baked Ham with Marmalade-Horseradish Sauce Recipe

How To Make Baked Ham with Marmalade-Horseradish Sauce

Ingredients

  • 18 lb ham, room temperature, fully cooked bone-in smoked
  • 48 whole cloves
  • 4 cup water
  • 1 cup orange marmalade
  • ¼ cup prepared cream style horseradish
  • ¼ cup golden brown sugar, packed
  • 2 cup orange juice, fresh

Instructions

  1. Position rack in bottom third of oven and preheat to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Place ham on rack set in large roasting pan.
  3. Using sharp knife, score ham in diamond pattern.
  4. Press 1 clove into center of each diamond.
  5. Pour 4 cup water into roasting pan.
  6. Roast ham 1 hour 30 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, blend marmalade, horseradish, and sugar in medium bowl.
  8. Remove ham from oven.
  9. Transfer ham to baking sheet.
  10. Discard pan juices.
  11. Return ham to roasting pan.
  12. Add orange juice to roasting pan.
  13. Brush top of ham with 1/3 of marmalade glaze.
  14. Bake ham 10 minutes.
  15. Baste with orange juice in pan, then brush with half of remaining glaze.
  16. Bake ham 10 minutes.
  17. Baste with orange juice in pan and brush with remaining glaze.
  18. Roast ham until heated through, basting every 5 minutes, about 20 minutes longer.
  19. Let ham rest 15 minutes.
  20. Transfer to platter.
  21. Serve ham hot, warm, or at room temperature.

Recipe Notes

Note: Although labeled fully cooked, the ham will still need a gentle baking for maximum tenderness and flavor. Be sure Cranberry Mustard and the Whole Wheat Date Rolls are close at hand and that the ham is sliced thin for those who would like to make small sandwiches.
