
How To Make Ham Hock and Black Eyed Peas Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 lb dried black-eyed peas
- 1 smoked ham hock
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 cups water
Instructions

Rinse the black-eyed peas and soak them in water overnight. Drain and set aside.

In a large pot, add the ham hock, onions, garlic, celery, green pepper, bay leaf, cumin, paprika, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.

Add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.

Add the soaked black-eyed peas to the pot and cook for another 30 minutes or until the peas are tender.

Serve hot with cornbread or rice.
