Ingredients

  • 2 ham hocks
  • 1 head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 6 cups of water
  • 1 tsp of black peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine ham hocks, cabbage, onion, celery, carrots, garlic, water, black peppercorns, bay leaves, and salt.

  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 2-2.5 hours until ham hocks are tender and cabbage is cooked.

  3. Remove ham hocks from the pot and shred the meat.

  4. Serve the ham hock and cabbage in bowls with some broth.
