Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss until the apples are coated.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, and cold butter. Use your hands to rub the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Spread the apple mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the oat mixture on top.

  5. Bake for 30 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.

  6. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.

  7. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
