How To Make Candy Apples

Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 15 minutes
Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized apples
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red food coloring
  • 4 wooden sticks

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Remove any stems and insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.

  2. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and red food coloring. Stir well over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.

  3. Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Continue to cook until the syrup reaches the hard crack stage, about 15 minutes. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature (around 300°F).

  4. Once the syrup reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.

  5. Dip each apple into the syrup, carefully coating it completely. Allow any excess syrup to drip off before placing the apple on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  6. Let the candy-coated apples cool and harden completely before serving. Enjoy!
