Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 45 minutes
Total: 1 hour

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of sliced apples
  • 1 cup of sliced strawberries
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 package of refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 tablespoon of butter, diced
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well to coat the fruit evenly.

  3. Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it firmly against the bottom and sides.

  4. Pour the apple and strawberry mixture into the pie crust, spreading it out evenly.

  5. Dot the diced butter over the fruit mixture.

  6. Place the second pie crust on top of the fruit mixture and crimp the edges to seal. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.

  7. Brush the top crust with milk and sprinkle with granulated sugar.

  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

  9. Allow the pie to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
