How To Make Blackberry Jelly

Jelly desserts don’t always have to mean ordinary gelatin dishes in cups. With our tasty jelly recipes, a jelly dessert will make you become the talk of the town before you know it.

Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 45 minutes
Total: 1 hour

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 packet powdered pectin

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Mash the blackberries with a fork or potato masher.

  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Cook for 10 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened slightly.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the pectin with 1/4 cup water. Add the pectin mixture to the saucepan and continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Skim off any foam that has formed on the surface.

  5. Pour the jelly into clean, sterilized jars and seal with lids. Let the jelly cool completely before storing in the refrigerator.

  6. The jelly will continue to thicken as it cools. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
