Rum Raisin Baked Apples Recipe

Give your baked apples an extra snap by adding in some rum raisin flavor. Don’t worry, if you don’t want the rum, you can always use apple juice instead.


This baked apples recipe uses some raisins and a dash of alcohol to add to the fun.

Ingredients

  • 4 Golden Delicious apples, McIntosh, or Gala apples (each about 3 in. diameter)
  • ¼ cup golden raisins
  • 2 tbsp Lucerne Sweet Cream Butter, or margarine
  • ½ tsp nutmeg, ground
  • cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 3 tbsp rum, or apple juice
  • whipped cream , or vanilla yogurt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Core apples using an apple corer.
  3. Arrange apples slightly apart in a shallow baking dish just large enough to hold them without crowding.
  4. In a small bowl, mix raisins, butter, nutmeg, and brown sugar.

  5. Press ¼ of the mixture into center of each apple, mounding any excess on top.

  6. Drizzle with rum or apple juice if you want a non-alcoholic option.

  7. Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender when pierced.

  8. Serve hot or warm; add a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla yogurt to taste, if desired.
