  • cupsall-purpose flour,scoop and level to measure
  • 2tspbaking powder
  • ¼tspsalt
  • ½cupbuttermilk
  • ¼cupgranulated sugar
  • 3tbspbutter,melted
  • 4cupsvegetable oil,for frying

For Coating:

  • cupgranulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Pour about ½-inch of oil into a large sauté pan or pot and heat over medium heat to 355 degrees F.

  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, ¼ cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt. 

  3. Separately whisk together the buttermilk and melted butter. Pour the buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture and using a fork, stir in the dry ingredients, and mix just until combined.

  4. Roll the dough into ½ tablespoon of balls.

  5. Once the oil has reached 355 degrees F, fry about ½ of the dough balls at a time. Fry until just golden brown on the bottom, then flip and cook reverse side until golden brown.

  6. Carefully remove with a spider strainer or metal tongs drain onto a paper towel-lined baking sheet.

  7. Pour ⅓ cup of sugar into a dish, then roll the donuts in the sugar. Repeat this process with the remaining dough. 

  8. Serve and enjoy!
