Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a small saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns into a golden caramel. Pour the caramel into a flan mold or individual ramekins, swirling to coat the bottom evenly.
-
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
-
Pour the egg mixture into the caramel-coated mold or ramekins. Place them in a larger baking dish and fill the dish with hot water to create a water bath.
-
Carefully transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
-
Remove the flan from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flan to fully set.
-
To serve, run a knife along the edges of the mold or ramekins, then invert onto a serving plate, allowing the caramel to drizzle over the flan.
