  • 4 cups of peeled, cored, and sliced pears or apples
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup of whole milk
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced pears or apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well to coat the fruit.

  3. Pour the fruit mixture into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish.

  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Add the melted butter and milk to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.

  6. Drop spoonfuls of the cobbler dough on top of the fruit mixture.

  7. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the cobbler crust is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.

  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

  9. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
