- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a gingerbread man-shaped cake pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the molasses to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the hot water and milk. Mix well after each addition.

Stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
