How To Make Kermit’s Shrimp and Grits Recipe
A classic southern dish of creamy grits and succulent shrimp, seasoned with cajun spices and topped with crispy bacon and scallions.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup stone-ground grits
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup milk
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp cajun seasoning
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 2 scallions, thinly sliced
Instructions
-
In a medium pot, bring water to a boil. Add grits and reduce heat to low. Stir occasionally until grits are tender and creamy, about 20 minutes.
-
While grits are cooking, heat a large skillet over high heat. Season shrimp with cajun seasoning and cook until pink and curled, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, cook bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
-
Add milk to grits and stir until combined. Top grits with shrimp, bacon, and sliced scallions.
