This classic New Orleans sandwich is packed with crispy fried oysters, lettuce, tomato, and a tangy remoulade sauce.

Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 15 minutes
Total: 35 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pint shucked oysters, drained
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 french bread rolls
  • 1/2 cup remoulade sauce
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.

  2. Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F.

  3. Dredge each oyster in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.

  6. Arrange lettuce and tomato slices on the bottom half of each roll.

  7. Top with fried oysters and serve immediately.
