How To Make Fisherman’s Fish and Chips Recipe

Crispy, golden fish and chips straight from the sea.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of cod fillets
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp of black pepper
  • 1 cup of beer
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced into wedges
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.

  2. Slowly whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth.

  3. Preheat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large Dutch oven to 375°F.

  4. Dip cod pieces into the batter and then into the hot oil, frying for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

  5. Fry the potato wedges until crispy and golden brown, about 5-8 minutes.

  6. Serve hot with a sprinkle of salt and malt vinegar on top, if desired.
