How To Make Blue Ribbon Lasagna Recipe
Delicious classic Italian-style lasagna, filled with layers of savory meat sauce, cheese and tender pasta.

Ingredients
- 8 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 egg
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions

Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, cook beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until beef is no longer pink and onion is tender. Drain off excess fat.

Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, fennel, salt, and pepper to the beef mixture in the skillet. Mix well and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for about 20 minutes.

In a small bowl, beat egg, then stir in the ricotta cheese and parsley.

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

To assemble, spread a third of the meat sauce in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, then layer with half of the cooked noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and a third of the mozzarella cheese.

Repeat with remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of meat sauce and remaining mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
