How To Make Yule Log Cake
A festive cake shaped like a log, filled with creamy frosting and topped with chocolate ganache.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup warm water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a 10×15 inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.

In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

In another bowl, beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract together until light and fluffy.

Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture and mix until just combined.

Fold in the warm water until the batter is smooth.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out evenly to the edges.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the cake springs back when pressed lightly.

Remove the cake from the oven and immediately invert it onto a clean kitchen towel.

Roll the cake up with the towel and let it cool for 30 minutes.

In a bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form.

Unroll the cooled cake and spread the whipped cream over the surface.

Carefully roll the cake back up into a log shape.

In a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips and heavy cream until smooth.

Pour the chocolate ganache over the cake and use a fork to create a bark-like texture.

Chill the cake for 1 hour before serving.
