How To Make Turnip and Onion Bhaji

A crispy and flavorful Indian appetizer made with turnip and onion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated turnip
  • 1 cup thinly sliced onion
  • 1/2 cup chickpea flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Water for batter
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine turnip, onion, chickpea flour, salt, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder and enough water to make a thick batter.

  2. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.

  3. Drop spoonfuls of the batter in hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.

  4. Drain excess oil on paper towels.

  5. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
