Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 slices of bread
- 8 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- Thousand Island dressing for serving
Instructions
-
In a bowl, mix together ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 patties.
-
Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the beef patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook, stirring frequently, until onions are caramelized and golden brown, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
-
Preheat another skillet or griddle over medium heat. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
-
Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet or griddle. Top each slice with a slice of Swiss cheese, a beef patty, caramelized onions, and another slice of Swiss cheese. Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side up.
-
Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until bread is toasted and cheese is melted.
-
Serve the grilled cheese patty melts with Thousand Island dressing for dipping.
