- 8 slices of bread (white, wheat, or sourdough)
- 4 tablespoons of butter, softened
- 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
- Optional: sliced tomatoes, cooked bacon, or ham
Instructions

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

Spread one side of each bread slice with softened butter.

Place four slices of bread (buttered side down) on the skillet or griddle.

Divide the shredded cheddar cheese evenly among the four slices of bread.

If desired, add sliced tomatoes, cooked bacon, or ham on top of the cheese.

Place the remaining four slices of bread on top (buttered side up).

Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown.

Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
