How To Make Spelt Pizza Dough

  • 2 cups spelt flour
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil


  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the spelt flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.

  2. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).

  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal portions.

  7. Roll out each portion into a round pizza base of your desired thickness.

  8. Transfer the pizza bases onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  9. Add your favorite toppings and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy.

  10. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and enjoy!
