How To Make Spelt Pancakes

No breakfast is complete without hot stacks of delicious pancakes! You may not be a morning person now, but with our yummy pancake recipes you certainly will be! Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups spelt flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the spelt flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vanilla extract, egg, and melted butter.

  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Grease lightly with butter or cooking spray.

  5. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  6. Repeat with the remaining batter.

  7. Serve the spelt pancakes warm with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, fresh berries, or yogurt.
