A hearty and flavorful pasta dish with a tangy tomato basil sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Rotini pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions.

  2. While pasta is cooking, heat olive oil over medium heat in a large saucepan.

  3. Saute onion and garlic until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. Add crushed tomatoes, salt, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes and stir to combine.

  5. Bring sauce to a simmer and let cook for 10-15 minutes.

  6. Add fresh basil to the sauce and stir to combine.

  7. Drain pasta and add it to the sauce, stirring to coat.

  8. Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese.
