Photos of Cavatini Recipe (Pizza Hut Copycat)
Nostalgia hit me when my friends said they were craving cavatini pasta which was an old Pizza Hut pasta favorite served at their salad bars. It was a delicious, kid friendly pasta that was overflowing with cheese, meat, and pasta. While my friends and I were reminiscing about this old (but not forgotten!) pasta dish, I suggested to them that I’ll try and make my own version of Pizza Hut’s famous cavatini recipe.
It’s been a long time since this delicious main dish has been offered, so now there are a lot of different cavatini recipes today. But, I believe this recipe of mine is the closest to the original recipe since it has the iconic spiral or rotini noodles, wheel noodles, and shell noodles. And, of course, a hefty amount of shredded parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese on top! This easy pasta recipe is similar to making casserole recipes since you also have to layer out the ingredients in a 11×13-inch pan or baking dish.
Aside from pastas and cheese, this recipe is also loaded with spaghetti sauce and crumbled meat such as lean ground beef and Italian sausage. It also has thinly sliced pepperoni, bell peppers, and onions. All of these ingredients come together to make a delicious layered cavatini pasta. Feel free to add a bit of red pepper flakes as well for a subtle spicy kick.
After I layered out each ingredient in the baking pan and sprinkled the cheeses on top, I popped it in the oven, waited for about 45 minutes, then it was done! I made a huge batch, and surprised my friends with this delicious cavatini copycat pasta dish. It’s safe to say that they enjoyed eating this nostalgia-filled comfort food.
