How To Make Basic Lentils Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of dried lentils
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the lentils under cold water and remove any debris or stones.

  2. In a large pot, combine the lentils, water, onion, garlic, carrot, celery, bay leaf, and cumin.

  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 30 minutes or until the lentils are tender.

  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Remove the bay leaf and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
