How To Make Elderflower Wine

This is a refreshing and aromatic wine made from elderflowers.

Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 30 minutes
Total: 45 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 20 elderflower heads
  • 1.5 kg granulated sugar
  • 2 lemons, sliced
  • 4.5 liters boiling water
  • 15g wine yeast
  • 5g citric acid

Instructions

  1. Remove the flowers from the elderflower heads and place them in a large sterilized fermentation bucket.

  2. Add the sugar, lemon slices, boiling water, wine yeast, and citric acid to the bucket and stir well.

  3. Cover the bucket with a clean cloth and leave it to ferment for 24 hours in a cool place.

  4. After 24 hours, strain the liquid through a fine sieve into clean sterilized bottles.

  5. Close the bottles tightly with cork or screw caps and leave them in a cool place to ferment for 2-3 weeks.

  6. Once the wine is clear and no longer bubbling, it is ready to be enjoyed.
