How To Make Glögg

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of red wine
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 10 cardamom pods
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 oranges, sliced
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 1/2 cup of blanched almonds

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the red wine, water, sugar, cloves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon sticks.

  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Do not let it boil.

  3. Reduce the heat to low and add the sliced oranges, raisins, and blanched almonds.

  4. Let the mixture simmer for 1 hour to allow the flavors to infuse.

  5. Remove from heat and strain the Glögg to remove the spices.

  6. Serve the Glögg warm in mugs or glasses, garnished with a few extra raisins and blanched almonds.
