How To Make Buttery Mulled Cider

This sweet beverage is made creamy with the addition of butter. Serve it warm to enjoy the layers of sweetness.

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 orange, squeezed for juice
  • 1 lemon, squeezed for juice
  • 8 cups apple cider
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp. whole allspice
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, divided


  1. In large saucepan, stir brown sugar, orange and lemon juices, cider, cloves, cinnamon sticks, allspice and 1/4 C. butter.
  2. Simmer covered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove whole spices.
  4. Pour into mugs and float a half Tbs. butter on top of each.
