How To Make Basil Lime Sorbet

Celebrate the flavors of summer with this basil lime sorbet. This refreshing dessert is vegan and dairy-free, so you can enjoy with less guilt.

Cool and Freeze Time: 3 hours 10 minutes
Total: 3 hours 15 minutes



  • cupswater
  • 2cupsbasil leaves,gently packed
  • 1cupsugar,or more/less to taste
  • ½cupfresh lime juice
  • 2tbsplime zest


  1. In a saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil over medium-high heat.  Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat and allow mixture to cool for 10 minutes (or more).

  2. Then add the sugar/water mixture, basil leaves and lime juice to a blender.  And carefully then puree the mixture for about 1 minute, or until well-blended.  Pour through a fine-meshed strainer, and stir in the lime zest.

  3. Freeze immediately in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s instructions until slushy-firm.  Scoop into a storage container and freeze until firm enough to scoop.
