How To Make Mountain Dew Cake

Ever heard of a mountain dew cake? This easy and sweet treat that combines cake and pudding mixes with a sweet pineapple topping.

  • 18¼ lemon cake mix, 1 package
  • 3⅖ fl oz instant vanilla pudding mix, 1 package
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 10 fl oz Mountain Dew™
  • 20 fl oz pineapple with juice, crushed, 1 can
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 cup flaked coconut


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch pan.

  2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pudding mix, oil, eggs and citrus soda. Mix until all ingredients are moistened.

  3. Pour into prepared 9x13 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool completely.

  4. To make the topping: In a saucepan, combine pineapple (with juice), sugar and corn starch. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, until thick. Remove from heat. Add butter and coconut. Spread topping evenly over cake.
