Matcha Mochi Recipe

How To Make Matcha Mochi

Soft, chewy and lightly sweetened Japanese rice cake infused with the rich flavor of matcha.

Cooking: 30 minutes
Total: 45 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp matcha powder
  • 2/3 cup water
  • Cornstarch for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, sugar, baking powder, and matcha powder.

  2. Add water and stir until well mixed.

  3. Pour the mixture into a microwavable dish and cover with a lid or plastic wrap. Microwave on high for 3 minutes.

  4. Remove from the microwave and stir the mixture until well combined. Cover again and microwave on high for another 2 minutes.

  5. Remove from the microwave and let cool for a few minutes until it is easy to handle.

  6. Dust a cutting board or flat surface with cornstarch and transfer the mochi to the surface. Cut the mochi into bite-sized pieces.

  7. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
