Serves:
Ingredients
- 8 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 4 cups of bread, cubed
- 1 cup of cheddar cheese, shredded
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups of whole milk
- 1 tsp of Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/4 tsp of black pepper
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
-
In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, crumbled bacon, and shredded cheese. Spread this mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
-
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Pour this mixture over the bread mixture in the baking dish, making sure to coat everything evenly.
-
Press down gently on the bread mixture with a spoon to make sure all the ingredients are submerged in the egg mixture.
-
Cover the baking dish with foil and let it sit for 20 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for the best flavor.
-
Bake the strata in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
-
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Slice into squares and serve warm.
