  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are tender, about 5 minutes.

  2. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir well to coat them. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

  3. Slowly pour in the chicken or vegetable broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens.

  4. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is heated through and creamy.

  5. Remove from heat and serve immediately as a topping for steaks, chicken, pasta, or vegetables.
