Ingredients

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp of baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 cup of cold unsalted butter, diced
  • 1/2 cup of dried cranberries
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut the cold butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Stir in the dried cranberries.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and vanilla extract. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Don’t overwork the dough.

  6. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle. Use a sharp knife or a round cookie cutter to cut the dough into scones.

  7. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

  8. Remove from the oven and let the scones cool on a wire rack before serving.
