How To Make Mushroom Sauce

This rich and flavorful mushroom sauce is the perfect accompaniment to any dish, adding a burst of umami flavor.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until softened and fragrant, about 3 minutes.

  3. Add the mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and begin to brown, about 5 minutes.

  4. Pour in the broth and simmer for 10 minutes.

  5. Stir in the heavy cream and simmer for an additional 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.

  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Stir in the chopped fresh parsley.

  8. Remove from heat and serve hot over your favorite dish.
