How To Make Lentil Dal Recipe
A comforting lentil stew infused with aromatic spices and served with rice.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup of red lentils, rinsed
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp of ginger, grated
- 1 tsp of ground turmeric
- 1 tsp of ground cumin
- 1 tsp of ground coriander
- 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper
- 3 cups of vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
- Cooked rice for serving
Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until translucent.

Add garlic and ginger and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Add turmeric, cumin, coriander, and cayenne pepper to the pot and cook for a minute longer.

Add the lentils and vegetable broth to the pot and stir well. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to low and let simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until lentils are tender and the mixture has thickened.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve hot over a bed of rice and top with cilantro.
