This savory Moroccan chicken is filled with distinct Moroccan spices, filling chicken, olives, and prunes, all slow-cooked to tender perfection.

  • 2lbschicken thighs,(8 thighs), boneless, skinless
  • 4medium carrots,cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1medium yellow onion,chopped
  • cupdried prunes,halved
  • ½cupgreen olives,pitted
  • 3garlic cloves,chopped
  • 2tbspall-purpose flour,or all-purpose gluten-free flour
  • 2tsppaprika
  • 2tspground cumin
  • 1tspground cinnamon
  • 2tspfresh ginger,minced
  • 1cupchicken broth,low-sodium
  • 1tspkosher salt
  • freshly ground black pepper,to taste
  • fresh cilantro,chopped, for serving
  • nuts,for serving, optional
  • lemon wedges,for serving


  1. In a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker, combine the chicken, carrots, onion, prunes, olives, garlic, flour, paprika, cumin, cinnamon, ginger, chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

  2. Cover and cook on Low for 6 hours.

  3. Sprinkle with cilantro or nuts, and serve with lemon wedges. Enjoy!
