How To Make Mussels in Harissa Broth Recipe

Tender mussels cooked in spicy harissa broth.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of fresh mussels
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of harissa paste
  • 1 28-ounce can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup of white wine
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Clean and debeard mussels, discarding any that do not close when tapped.

  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.

  3. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft, about 3 minutes.

  4. Stir in harissa paste and cook for another minute.

  5. Add diced tomatoes, white wine, and season with salt and pepper.

  6. Bring mixture to a boil and add in mussels.

  7. Cover the pot with a lid and steam for 5-7 minutes or until the mussels have opened.

  8. Serve in bowls, garnished with chopped parsley.
