Ingredients

  • 200g mackerel fillets
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix hoisin sauce, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Set aside.

  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, water, green onions, and salt until smooth. Let it rest for 5 minutes.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.

  4. Dip the mackerel fillets into the hoisin sauce mixture, making sure they are well coated.

  5. Coat the fillets with the pancake batter and place them in the hot pan.

  6. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

  7. Repeat with the remaining fillets.

  8. Serve the mackerel pancakes hot with extra hoisin sauce on the side.
