Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh liver
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
-
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened and fragrant.
-
Add the fresh liver to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
-
Remove the liver from the skillet and let it cool slightly. Then, chop the liver into small pieces.
-
In a food processor, combine the chopped liver, sautéed onion and garlic, ground black pepper, salt, dried thyme, and bread crumbs. Pulse until well combined and smooth.
-
Heat the butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Add the liver mixture to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until heated through, about 10 minutes.
-
Transfer the liverwurst mixture to a bowl and let it cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together.
-
Serve the liverwurst on crackers or bread slices.
