Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 fillets of white fish (such as cod or halibut)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • For the Ginger Mash:
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a small bowl, mix together the cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and pepper.

  3. Rub the spice mixture onto both sides of the fish fillets.

  4. Heat the olive oil in a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat.

  5. Add the fish fillets to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until lightly browned.

  6. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the fish is cooked through.

  7. Meanwhile, cook the diced potatoes in boiling water until tender, about 10-12 minutes. Drain well.

  8. In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the grated ginger and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  9. Add the cooked potatoes, milk, salt, and pepper to the saucepan. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.

  10. Serve the Moroccan spiced fish on top of the ginger mash.
