How To Make Umami Gravy

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 onion, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp dried rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the minced onions and garlic, and sauté until they become translucent.

Stir in the beef or vegetable broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, thyme, and rosemary.

Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

If desired, mix the cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry, then slowly stir it into the gravy to thicken.

Simmer for another 5 minutes until the gravy thickens.
