This classic cherry pie is the perfect combination of sweet and tart flavors, with a flaky crust that will melt in your mouth.

Preparation: 30 minutes
Cooking: 45 minutes
Total: 75 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 9-inch pie crust, homemade or store-bought
  • 1 tablespoon of butter, diced
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a bowl, combine the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, almond extract, and lemon juice. Mix well.

  3. Roll out one of the pie crusts and line a 9-inch pie dish with it. Trim any excess dough.

  4. Pour the cherry mixture into the pie crust, and dot with diced butter.

  5. Roll out the second pie crust and cut it into strips. Create a lattice pattern on top of the cherry filling.

  6. Brush the lattice crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar.

  7. Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

  8. Allow the pie to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
